Ministry
Empty and forlorn the notorious Aliquippa Strip Bar was purchased in 2001 for $1000. The ex strip bar has been stripped, and is at once a community building project, an ecumenical ground breaker and a spiritual incursion. When it is open, the possibilities abound!

At the most basic level, The Uncommon Grounds Café is a safe listening place which is alcohol-free for those struggling to overcome addictions. More significantly however is forming discipleship relationships for Jesus through community development and empowering the churches in Aliquippa. The Uncommon Grounds Café is a base for far-reaching evangelism, worship services, job skills, parish training and equipping events, and community activities, from 12-step programs to parenting classes to intensive training workshops for volunteers and churches.

As the renovation progresses ministry flourishes. Gateway Rehabilitation Center sends a crew of boys each week on their work release programs. Regularly these boys return to help even after they have finished their time at Gateway. Kids from the community come and participate while their parents frequent the local bars. Women offenders from the County Jail come and learn life skills to help them better cope.
