Chuck and Desiree Fulfer |
||
MinistryChuck and Desiree were once on a path of destruction, addicted to methamphetamine. Chuck recalls “enticing” his new wife Desiree to join in his “glamorized high life.” Assuring her all would be well they both ended up in jail. Deserving of punishment they both received grace. They were delivered into a rehabilitation program and were introduced to the Church Army in Branson. Desiree’s eyes were opened to her cycle of addiction that began when she started drinking at the age of 8. She tells of being “totally broken” and having her pride crushed when her husband Chuck would choose “meth” over her desires. “I was defeated and powerless,” laments Desiree.
Finding the Way Out
Called to Plant a New Base of Hope Chuck was feeling the same nudge from God. He said, “At every turn doors were opened for ministry. From the county jail to the local church, homeless shelters, food banks, even the transit system officials showed a willingness to volunteer. It seemed the perfect fit.” Now Chuck and Desiree Fulfer have been asked by the Church Army and the local task force to be the directors of this new base plant. Chuck knew God was calling him to “come and see what I will do." And together they said, “YES, Lord we would love to see what you will do!” With the endorsement of the Church Army USA National Director, Steve Brightwell, Chuck and Desiree are making plans to start directing the Church Army base in Woodbridge, Virginia. They know the call from God is clear. When asked how will God accomplish this Chuck responded quickly, “God has consistently accomplished the impossible for his purposes. Is it God’s will for addicts to recover, have safe housing, to grow spiritually and help others? I think so . . . want to help?”
